A man was shot and killed while driving in Diego Martin on Saturday 11th November, 2023.
• The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Shondell Stewart of Upper Waterhole Road in Cocorite.
• Around 6:30pm, Stewart was reportedly driving his white Nissan Tiida along Raphael Trace in Diego Martin, when a gunman approached and began shooting at his vehicle, before fleeing the scene.
• Stewart sustained several gunshot injuries and stopped the vehicle a short distance away where he was able to raise an alarm.
• Persons who heard the commotion contacted the police and emergency health services, who arrived at the scene and took him to the St James Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
• A team of officers from the Western Division and the Homicide Bureau, led by Insp Grant and Sgt Ramroop visited the scene with crime scene investigators who recovered three spent 9mm shells and one deformed projectile.
The last murder that took place in the Diego martin area was on Sunday 29th October, 2023, when 33-year-old Nester Sammy also known as Abdul Charles, Akeem Gomez and ‘Pappy’ was shot and killed at the Superpharm carpark.
