The decomposing body of a man was found in a river in Caroni on Sunday 17th December, 2023.
• The body is believed to be 28-year-old Shiva Lochan who was reported missing on Thursday 07th December, 2023.
• Around 12:50pm, officers responded to the report of a body floating in a river at Laundry Road, Kelly Village, Caroni.
• Upon their arrival, the officers met with the informant who reported that around 2pm on Saturday, he went to the river to make checks on traps placed to capture Capybaras, when he distinguished a foul stench coming from the area.
• He then noticed the decomposing body of a man lying face down and immediately left the area.
• On Sunday, the man notified the police who went to the area and discovered the body.
• The officers then summoned a DMO to the scene who viewed the body, made their pronouncement and ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre pending a post-mortem.
