A shooting near the Tunapuna market left two men dead and three others injured on Wednesday 03rd January, 2024.

• The deceased were identified as 33-year-old Mickiel Voisin and 24-year-old Aaron Leander aka Slimy.

• While the injured victims were identified as 23-year-old ⁠Nathaniel Gajadhar of St John Road, St Augustine, 34-year-old Alex Alexander also of St Augustine and 22-year-old ⁠Kristen Hosein of Curepe.

• Around 8:00pm, Voisin and Leander were reportedly liming with a group of men on the eastern side of the Tunapuna Market, off Railway Road, when a brown Nissan Sylphy stopped near them.

• Four masked men dressed in dark clothing, all armed with guns exited the vehicle and began shooting at the group, hitting five of the victims.

• The suspects then re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene east along the Priority Bus Route.

• The police and emergency health services were immediately notified, and a team of officers from the Tunapuna police station and the North Central Division responded.

• When they arrived at the scene, they discovered Voisin’s lifeless body as well as the four other victims.

• They were all conveyed to the Mt Hope Hospital where Leander succumbed to his injuries.

• Hosein was treated for multiple gunshot wounds about the body and was listed in critical condition while Gajadhar and Alexander were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and listed in stable condition.

• Officials from the Homicide Bureau also visited the scene along with Crime scene experts who reportedly recovered over 44 spent 9mm shells.

This was the second double murder that was recorded in the country for the year thus far.

Just on Tuesday 02nd January, 2024, 66-year-old Carmelita DeLeon and her daughter 43-year-old Calida Schamber of Riverside Drive, Glencoe were shot and killed by the daughter’s husband, warrant officer 2, Terron Bradshaw at their home.
