According to a police report, the retired officer was in his Nissan xtrail suv awaiting an employee outside their Tumpuna Villas, Malabar Extension, Arima, home when he fell asleep.
The ex-cop reported that he became drowsy because of the medication he had taken.
However, it was not until the officer proceeded to his restaurant in Malabar, that he discovered his Springfield Armory 9mm pistol serial # MG778866, loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition, missing.
At the time of the incident, the officer was said to be in company with a restaurant proprietor of Tunapuna.
A report was made to the police about the alleged theft of the $8,000 pistol and ammunition. Investigations are continuing into the incident.
