According to police around 10:50am, the 64-year-old woman was at her Connector Road, Pierre Road, Chaguanas home, when she heard someone calling out at the front of her home.
She peeked through a window and acknowledged the man who was of Spanish descent and barely spoke english.
The man asked the woman for her husband and she indicated he was not home at the moment. The suspect then proceeded towards an open door at the side of the woman’s home and confronted her with a knife.
The suspect, police said, stabbed her several times and dealt her blows about the body before relieving her of three (3) samsung cell phones. He then escaped on foot.
The woman managed to make her way to the roadway where she sought assistance from persons and the emergency health services were contacted.
She was taken to the Chaguanas District Health Facility where she was treated and transferred to the Mt. Hope Hospital for further treatment.
