At Beetham Gardens in Port of Spain, officers of the IATF and Guard and Emergency Branch were involved in a shooting incident which resulted in one man being killed and the seizure of an AR-15 rifle early on Monday 17th October, 2022.
• The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Voss Singh of phase 5 Beetham Gardens, Beetham.
• Around 12:20am officers of the IATF strike team in a company with GEB officers were on mobile patrol at phase 5 Beetham Gardens when they spotted several men armed with assault rifles.
• The suspects then ran in different directions and were chased by the officers. One suspect was confronted by police and he reportedly pointed a weapon at officers and was shot.
• Police took the victim to the Port of Spain General Hospital for medical treatment where he died and they also reportedly seized an AR-15 rifle.
