A parent was reportedly shot and wounded on the compound of the Cumaca R.C Primary School in Valencia earlier on Monday 05th June, 2023.
• The victim was identified as 30-year-old Carlon Patrick of Guaico Village, Sangre Grande.
• Around 8:05am, Patrick reportedly went to drop his son off at the school when he observed a man, he knew approaching him.
• The suspect allegedly pointed a gun in his direction and Patrick ran onto the school’s compound.
• The suspect pursued Patrick and fired a shot at him, hitting him in the right arm, before fleeing the scene through a nearby cemetery.
• A report was made and Sgt Glodon and a party of officers of the Valencia Police Station later visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
This was the fourth (4) shooting that took place near a school for the year thus far.
Just on Thursday 18th May, 2023, a 38-year-old man was shot and wounded near Providence Girls’ Secondary School in Belmont.
On Thursday 4th May, 2023: a similar incident took place near Hockett Baptist primary school in Morvant, when a man identified as 22-year-old Leon Mark was shot and wounded.
• Leon sustained a gunshot injury to the arm and was taken to the hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries the day after.
Also, on Monday 01st May, 2023, classes at the Munroe Road Hindu primary school were dismissed early after 41-year-old Ronnie Pierre of Connector Road, Carlsen Field was gunned down outside the premises.
