Would-be robbers ended up empty-handed but in a jail cell

A 30-year-old man and another man, aged 24, arrived at a residence at Munroe Road in Cunupia around 5pm on Friday with $82,0000 regarding the sale of a motor vehicle when they were approached by a gunman.

The suspect, who exited a Honda City motor car, pointed the gun and the victims and demanded the cash. The first victim then quickly reversed his vehicle along the roadway and contacted the police.

PC Bernard and PC Cassie of the Chaguanas Police Station responded and intercepted the vehicle along Naraaloo Ramayamarg Road and detained two suspects.

Police said they found and seized a Beretta 9mm pistol with 16 rounds of ammunition inside the vehicle.
