Woodbrook residents are not in support of a police post being constructed at the Adam Smith Square in Woodbrook

Woodbrook residents are not in support of a police post being constructed at the Adam Smith Square in Woodbrook which is part of the government’s phase 1, Ariapita Avenue enhancement project.

• Phase one of the project has an estimated cost of $15m and forms part of the government’s transition of “De Avenue” into a premier economic and leisure zone in Port-of-Spain.

• Mayor Joel Martinez is quoted as saying that tourism and safety go hand-in-hand and work has commenced on the police post at Adam Smith square in an attempt to lessen the crime rate.

• However, residents have complained that there was already the Woodbrook police station located a stone’s throw away from the square and there is no need to demolish it.
