With many parts of the country still submerged under water, several persons had to be evacuated from their homes over the weekend and today:
• Several communities across the Caroni, north Oropouche and Caparo river basins, prompted multiple high-water rescues and evacuations.
• Over the last two days, significant rainfall associated with the passage of a low-level trough triggered widespread street, flash and riverine flooding, landslides, and fallen trees, leaving no corner of T&T untouched.
• Evacuations occurred in madras, Santa Monica trace in Kelly village, Springland avenue, Valsayn south as well as Biche and Woodland.
• Some of the other affected areas are: Barrackpore, Blanchisseuse, Madras Road, St. Helena, Manzanilla, Caparo, South Oropouche, Gran Couva, Tabaquite road
• Major landslides across Trinidad and Tobago left roadways impassable throughout the weekend, preventing heavy equipment from reaching the blocked areas.
