Warrant executed at Children’s Home in Belmont as cops probe 1997 Sabga Report.
Police from the Child Protection Unit (CPU) swooped down on the St. Dominic’s Children’s Home in Belmont where they executed a search warrant as they continue investigations into allegations of sexual abuses against children at the home as contained in the horrifying 1997 Sabga Report.
On Tuesday 12th July, 2022, Head of the Gender Based Violence Unit Snr. Supt. Claire Guy-Alleyne, led a team of officers at the Children’s home in Belmont, where they executed a search warrant.
It is believed officers obtained records and files as stated in the warrant from the Administration at the home.
Several victims who were children and were referenced in the Sabga Report also accompanied the team of investigators, which comprised approximately 12 officers who made a surprise visit to the home in 4 police SUVs.
We understand that the victims were able to take officers to several locations on the compound where the incidents of abuse took place and the areas were photographed by two police photographers and recorded.
The team of officers, which included a Legal Officer, spent several hours on the compound with the victims as they continued their investigations there.
We were told that Sr. Arlene Greenidge, the Home manager, came to the Administration shortly after the officers arrived.
A special team of officers has been assigned to investigate the allegations of sexual abuse and other crimes against minors, which have no statute of limitations, contained in the 1997 Sabga Task Force Report.
