W.I. cricketer Kevon Cooper was found guilty by a pos magistrate yesterday and slapped with a fine regarding several charges arising out of an incident he had with police in 2016 in Wood Brook, Port of Spain.

W.I. cricketer Kevon Cooper was found guilty by a pos magistrate yesterday and slapped with a fine regarding several charges arising out of an incident he had with police in 2016 in Wood Brook, Port of Spain.

• Cooper was charged with using obscene language, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
• While former national footballer Shane Calderon, who was also arrested during the same incident, was charged with using obscene language, two offences of obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty and assault to prevent lawful detention.
• They were both charged by PC Simmons.
• Magistrate Kerry Ann Byer, sitting in the Port of Spain third magistrates’ court yesterday, found cooper guilty on all charges and slapped him with a total of $5,200 in fines.
• According to reports, around 3 am on Sunday, March 27th, 2016, the pair were attempting to park along Baden Powell Street in Wood brook when they were stopped by police.
• The two men reportedly argued with the officers over whether their vehicle was parked in a no-parking zone and committed the offences they were subsequently charged with.
