Two men were shot and killed at the Blanchisseuse recreation grounds on Friday 27th january, 2023 in what is believed to be an ongoing land dispute in the area.
• The deceased are Nigel Didier and 31-year-old Mitchell Evangelist and the shooting happened in the street along the paria main road near the Blanchisseuse recreation grounds.
• Both victims were working at a construction site when two gunmen approached and shot them multiple times about their bodies.
On February 17th 2021: Mitchell Evangelist’s brother, Sherwin Maharaj, of O’connor Street off the Paria main road was shot and killed in what is believed to be an ongoing land dispute. One spent 5.56 shell casing and one live 5.56 ammunition were recovered by police officers on the scene.
