Two men were held with illegal firearms in the Morvant and Laventille districts during two separate exercises conducted by North Eastern Division and IATF officers.
• Officers of the IATF proceeded to Leotaud Street, Laventille, between 3 am and 4:30 am on Friday 6th January, 2023, where they stopped and searched a 25-year-old male suspect.
• The search resulted in officers finding one Taurus pistol loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition in his possession and he was arrested.
• In the second exercise, officers of the North Eastern Division Intelligence Unit conducted an exercise between 6 pm on Thursday 5th January, 2023 and 3 am on Friday 6th January, 2023 in the Morvant, San Juan, Barataria and Santa Cruz districts.
• During the exercise, officers stopped and searched a 22-year-old man at Mon Repos Road in Morvant and found tucked in his pants waist, one Beretta pistol loaded with a magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition. PC Moonesar is investigating the matter.
• The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Edwards, Supt. Ravenales, ASP Singh and supervised by Insp. Bharath, Sgt. Belilam, Cpl. Ramkissoon, Cpl. George.
