Two men were gunned down inside a car in Oropune, Piarco on Monday 10th April, 2023.
• The deceased were identified as Shamba Chandler aka “Shammi” of Maracas/St Joseph and Mt’ Dor Road in Champ Fleurs and Carlsbury Lewis aka “Berry” of Mohammed Street in St Augustine.
• Shamba was allegedly said to be a well-known shooter who was involved in criminal activities, while Lewis is reportedly a well-known driver for criminals.
• Around 8:00pm, Shamba and Lewis were seated in a Nissan Almera registered PCA 3074 when they were ambushed by occupants of a Mazda 6 car.
• Three suspects, armed with high-powered rifles and a 9mm pistol, alighted from the vehicle and riddled the Almera with bullets before re-entering their car and fleeing the scene.
• The car then crashed onto the shoulder of the Westbound Lane and both men succumbed to their injuries.
• The police were contacted and when they arrived at the scene, they discovered both victims’ lifeless bodies, covered in gunshot injuries, slumped on each other.
• The officers also recovered 7 spent 7.62mm shell casings, 11 spent 5.56, and 12 9mm shell casings at the scene of the shooting.
