Trinidad and Tobago will be celebrating Spiritual/Shouter Baptist Liberation Day tomorrow, Thursday 30th March, 2023.
• The holiday is celebrated annually on the 30th of March and it is said that Trinidad and Tobago is the only country in the world that commemorates the liberation of the Spiritual (Shouter) Baptist community, whose faith was banned for over three decades (1917-1951) in the early twentieth century by the colonial government.
• The Spiritual Baptist faith is indigenous to this country and is a religion with elements of Protestant Christianity and African doctrines and rituals.
