Tragedy in South Oropouche after a boy was shot in the head by another child who was reportedly playing with a gun at his home on Thursday 20th October, 2022.
• The injured victim has been identified as 9-year-old Dimitri Lacksingh, who lives at the corner of Sookram Avenue and Mon Desir Road, South Oropouche.
• Dimitri, we were told, was shot in the head by his 11-year-old friend at the victim’s home yesterday morning while they were reportedly playing with a pellet gun which is owned by a relative.
• The victim was taken to the hospital where he remains in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit at the San Fernando General Hospital.
• Details of the entire incident remain unclear but we understand that the police visited the house yesterday and reportedly seized the weapon involved in the incident.
• Our camera crew visited the family’s house earlier today but we were told that the child’s father was at the hospital.
• Around 5:43pm this afternoon, we were able to make contact with the child’s father, Darren via his cell phone, but a female came on the line and indicated they were not around at the moment and promised to call us back.
