Three suspects were held after firing shots at a retired police officer after he saw them cutting bamboo on his property in Mamoral on Wednesday 11th January, 2023.
• Police said the 71-year-old man saw the men cutting bamboo at his property and he confronted them. One of the men, identified as “Markie” went to a nearby vehicle and took out a gun and opened fire on the victim.
• The suspects then fled the police were notified and the suspects fled in a blue station wagon reg# PDT 6545 and Cpl. John, Pc ralph and Pc Rambhal of the ERP responded.
• The car was intercepted and three suspects were held. They are 29-year-old Mark Harracksingh of Mamoral road and Old southern main road in Montrose; 23-year-old Anthony Charles Phillip of Lamont street Longdenville; and 29-year-old Steven Ottway of old southern main road Montrose, Chaguanas.
• A preliminary search was conducted in the vehicle but nothing was found. At the police station a comprehensive search was carried out a pistol with four live rounds of ammunition was found hidden in the upholstering inside the car.
