Three months after he was released form Prsion on charges of kidnapping and murder, Phillip Boodram aka “The Boss”, a well-known gang, drug and gun leader, was among three (3) men shot and killed during a police-involved incident near UTT in Esperanza, Couva, on Saturday 10th September, 2022.
• The other two men have been identified as Malick Paul of Railway Road, Couva and Gerard Thorington of Goodwill Road Enterprise.
• Police said officers of the Central Division Gang and Intelligence Unit, the CID and Task Force, were conducting enquiries within the Couva district when they attempted to intercept a silver Isuzu D-Max pickup van.
• Officers said the occupants of the vehicle opened fire on the plainclothes officers fired back at the vehicle hitting all three occupants.
• The men were taken to the Couva District Hospital where they were declared dead. Police said they recovered three (3) firearms from the scene of the incident.
• Boodram, of California, Couva, was released from prison in June. He and four co-accused — Roger Mootoo, Ricky Singh, Kervin Williams and Aaron Grappie — were convicted of the 2005 kidnapping of businesswoman Samdaye Rampersad.
• Rampersad, of Petit Bourg in San Juan, was allegedly buried alive. Her body was found 41 days after she was kidnapped in a shallow grave in a cashew field in Carolina Village, Claxton Bay.
• Boodram and the four co-accused spent almost 17 years in jail before being set free by the Court of Appeal.
• He was accused of calling the shots of multiple persons who owed him money and those who stole from him even while he was in prison.
In August last year: Phillip’s son Marlon Boodram aka “Bosie” was arrested and charged with alleged cocaine possession and a firearm at his Dow Village, California, Couva home.
• Marlon Boodram, Gwen Bhudan and Bisram Ramjit were charged with allegedly being in possession of 2,020grams of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking.
• The trio were held inside a house which was searched at Dow village in California by officers of the Central Division Task Force in August, 2021.
The police killings of Boodram and the two (2) others are the third triple police-involved killings for the year.
On Thursday 08th September, 2022.
• Three men, identified as Quamie Wallace aka “Tusty” of enterprise, Ricky Taylor aka “Ross” of Enterprise and Ronele Alexander aka “Capepe” of Sangre Grande and Enterprise, were killed by police.
• The men were shot during a confrontation with lawmen at Enterprise Street, Chaguanas, near the Longdenville Main Road and were declared dead at the Chaguanas District Health Facility.
On Saturday 2nd July, 2022:
Three friends were shot dead in Port of Spain by officers of the Western Division and the Guard and Emergency Branch.
• The victims are: 17-year-old Leonardo Williams of Hell Yard, Beetham Gardens; 17-year-old Isaiah Roberts; and his cousin-in-law 22-year-old Fabien Richards both of Sandy Trace, St. Barb’s Road, Laventille.
