Three (3) men who robbed a KFC delivery driver, while posing as customers, were shot and killed by police officers in Mayaro on Sunday 22nd January, 2023.
• Two of the suspects were only identified as Corey and Mata, while the other suspect remains unnamed.
• Around 8:30pm, the 41-year-old KFC delivery driver of Mayaro, responded to a delivery at Mischier Road, Mayaro.
• The victim was given directions by one of the suspects to stop at a house at the end of the roadway, near the beachfront, which was an abandoned beach house.
• While at the location, four men approached the victim armed with knives, cutlasses and one with a gun, following which they announced a robbery.
• The victim was relieved of his cash, the delivery order consisting of KFC chicken, fries, biscuits, water, ketchup and mustard along with a cellphone, before the suspects ran off in the direction of the beach.
• A report was made and a team of officers attached to the Mayaro CID and taskforce responded.
• The officers went to the area, where they were confronted by four men fitting the description of the suspects.
• The suspects reportedly began shooting at the officers who fired back killing three of them at the scene as a third jumped over a wall and escaped.
• Crime scene investigators visited the scene and seized a revolver with one live round of ammunition, spent casings, a cutlass, a knife, a cellphone and cash.
