There are reports that a gate fell on someone at Boothman Road in St. Augustine earlier today. CCTV video of the incident showed several men rushing to the assistance of the victim by removing the gate from on top of the person.
In July of this year, a schoolboy and a security guard were killed in separate incidents in Aranguez and El Socorro by gates that fell on them.
• 40-year-old Steven Noreiga was found dead under a gate at the NWT Enterprises compound at Global Avenue El Socorro South just after 2am on Thursday 14th July, 2022.
• Noriega, who lived in Arouca, was employed with Special Forces Security Services Limited, was discovered dead under the gate, with a wound to the head, hours after he could not be located.
Days earlier on Sunday 10th July, 2022:
• A gate became unhinged and crushed the head of 16-year-old schoolboy Kameel Ali at his Jagessar Street, Aranguez home. He died at the Mt. Hope Hospital.
