The TTPS has forked out a whopping $6.5m for the lease of two mobile scanners which have not been in use and have not yielded any results in the fight against crime.

• This was revealed by Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Curt Simon on Monday 27th February, while responding to questions by Paul Richards, a member of the Joint Select Committee on National Security.
• Simon said the TTPS is unable to use the scanners and have not benefitted from it given the issues of its personnel’s certification and other logistical issues.
• But before Simon gave his responses on the issue of the two mobile scanners, Commissioner Christopher told the Committee that an investigation has been launched into acquisition of two mobile scanners which are non-functional.
