The partially burnt body of a pensioner was found stabbed to death at his home in Fyzabad on Sunday 2nd June, 2024.
• The deceased was identified as 74-year-old Henry Mungal of John Jules Road Extension and Joseph Street, Fyzabad.
• Around 4:45pm, the First Responders Cpl Sinclair, PC Collin, PC Jagoo and PC Bryan of the South Western Division Task Force were on duty in the Fyzabad Police District, when they received a report of a murder in John Jules Road.
• When the officers arrived at the scene, they were directed to a flat concrete structure, where they observed Mungal’s partially burnt body on a wooden bed with apparent stab wounds to the stomach.
• The First Responders secured the scene and contacted the relevant authorities.
• The DMO Dr. Johanna Degannes visited the scene, viewed the body, made a pronouncement and ordered the removal of the body to Dass Funeral Home for safekeeping pending a post-mortem at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
• The scene was processed and photographed by the CSI’s WPC Marshall and a knife believed to be the murder weapon was retrieved.
• Investigations are ongoing.
The last murder that occurred in Fyzabad was on Monday 20th May, 2024, when 64-year-old Russell Bianco who was reported missing on Thursday 16th May, 2024 burnt body was found near Rambally Park.
