The owner of Dopson’s roti shop at Maraval road in Port of Spain was stabbed to death by a Guyanese national during an incident at Gemini bar in Chaguanas early yesterday.
• 35-year-old Jason Dopson, of Canaan drive, Chase Village, died while undergoing emergency treatment at the mt. Hope hospital, hours after he was stabbed once in the chest by the suspect, who was later arrested by officers of the central division task force.
• The stabbing incident happened during the early hours at Gemini bar located along the southern main road, Edinburgh Village, Chaguanas.
• Dopson reportedly had an altercation with the suspect, while both men were inside the bar and the suspect walked outside, police said.
• He was followed by Dopson and there was an exchange of words following which the suspect slapped Dopson. As Dopson slapped him back, the suspect whipped out a knife and stabbed Dopson once in the chest before fleeing the scene.
• Dopson was taken to the Chaguanas district health facility where he was treated and transferred to the mt. Hope hospital where he subsequently died.
ON OCT 17TH 2010:
• Dopson’s cousin, SRP Renaul Dopson, was killed and his colleague Wpc Wendy-Ann timothy, was injured while they were on active duty directing traffic along the Sir Solomon Hochoy highway in Couva.
• One month later, 27-year-old Aaliyah “Dimples” Popalie, of San Juan was charged with causing the death of Pc Dopson and seriously injuring Wpc Timothy.
