• Of the killings, 41 took place with the use of firearms while one (1) woman was beaten to death, (3) persons were stabbed and (1) man’s head was decapitated.
Also, the country recorded 37 double murders; 4 triple murders; and 2 quadruple murders for the year.
Three men were murdered during a gun attack at sapodilla trace, Mapp Lands in Laventille earlier today which prompted the acting commissioner of police to visit the scene:
• The deceased have been identified as 23-year-old Cody Pierre of Mapp Lands, Laventille; 23-year-old Javon George of Mapp Lands, Laventille; and Alex Morton of Redhill, Morvant.
• Around 9am, several men emerged from a Toyota Axio motorcar and opened fire on a group of people who were on the roadway at Sapodilla Trace, Pierre and George were at the scene.
• Morton was conveyed to the Port of Spain General Hospital by a resident where he was declared dead.
