After recent incidents of persons dressed as police officers, carrying out several robberies, shootings and murders across the country and shootings, the acting Commissioner of Police has taken a decision to ban the use of balaclavas (ski masks) by police officers while carrying out operations.

• This was disclosed by acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Wendell Williams at the TTPS weekly press briefing on Thursday 25th August, 2022.

• Williams added that this was one of the measures taken to curb incidents of police imposters.

• He also added that a decision was also taken to have an officer in the traditional police uniform accompany their colleagues who may be in operational wear on search warrant exercises.
