Several spent shells from a high-powered rifle were discovered by members of the media along the Lady Young Road Morvant near Marie Street in Morvant as they covered a homicide in the area on Friday 9th September, 2022.
• A member of our camera crew was standing at the corner of Marie Road and the Lady Young Road in Morvant, just opposite the scene where Jamal was found dead, when a projectile, resembling a spent shell was observed on the roadway.
• A closer check was made and it turned out to be a spent projectile from a high-powered weapon. A similar projectile was also observed in the drain nearby and the police were informed.
• A photographer with Guardian Medial Limited also observed additionally spent shells on the opposite side of the roadway and notified the police.
• Officers are working on the theory that Jamal, who does not live in the area where he was found murdered, went into the community with other persons and there was a shootout which resulted in his death.
