Regarding complaints about the slow response from the police to the recent robbery at the home of Central Businessman R. Maye, by men dressed in police wear, Acting DCP Williams said that such complaints appear to be unacceptable.
• The suspects, who were armed with MP5 submachine pistols and handguns, initially claimed they had a warrant to search the home but relatives became suspicious and contacted the real police.
• The police were contacted long before the bandits jumped the wall, forced their way into the home and stole cash and jewels.
• According to Acting DCP Williams, the police were reviewing the incident and their response time to ensure such does not reoccur.
The suspects abandoned their vehicle after the owner remotely shut it down and subsequently stole a car belonging to Donny Charles who was forced to stop while proceeding along Derrick Road in Chase Village.
• That vehicle was recovered on Tuesday 23rd August in a ditch off Ramlal Trace, Chickland in Freeport.
