Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, earlier today, dismissed the Opposition’s nominee Senior Counsel Israel Khan for the post of President saying he was a UNC activist.
• The PM spoke at a hastily called press conference at the Diplomatic Centre where he explained at length areas in the Constitution where sitting members of Parliament can be nominated to become the President but such person would have to vacate their seat.
• Question on the UNC’s pick of Senior Counsel Khan, the PM said once he gets the required numbers to become a nominee, the Electoral College will have the last say but the Government was moving ahead with Senate President Christine Kangaloo as its nominee.
