Three Held and Three Firearms Seized in POSD and ND Exercises
Three persons were arrested and three firearms and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Port of Spain and Northern Divisions during anti-crime exercises conducted yesterday.
Officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force conducted an exercise between 5 am and 10 am on Thursday 18th August, 2022, during which they proceeded to Production Avenue, Sea Lots, where they observed a man acting suspiciously.
The officers approached the suspect and conducted a search, which resulted in one Glock pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition being found in his possession.
The same party of officers subsequently executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home where they found one Taurus revolver and seven rounds of ammunition on the premises.
The 24-year-old suspect of the area is expected to be charged with possession of firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile, officers of the Northern Division Task Force, the ND Gang Intelligence Unit and the Canine Branch, conducted an exercise around 6:30 am in the Arima district, during which they proceeded to Trainline Road.
There, they conducted a search of a house which resulted in one revolver being discovered.
An 18-year-old who was at the house at the time of the exercise was arrested in connection with the find.
Officers also arrested a minor in the Northern Division for possession of seven rounds of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing.
