One bandit was killed and two others were arrested following the abduction of a Massy Stores and robbery at the business place in La Romaine, San Fernando, late on Friday 7th January, 2023.
• A Massy Stores Manager was abducted and taken to the La Romain business where she was forced to open a vault which contained a large sum of cash.
• Three men in clothing similar to that worn by police officers, pulled over her vehicle along the highway in Gasparillo, using an SUV which had blue flashing lights,
• The suspects approached the woman’s Tiida hatchback vehicle and placed her in the back seat with two men sitting on either side.
• She was abducted, taken to Massy Stores in La Romaine and ordered to the store then a vault which they cleared of its contents before fleeing the scene.
• A report was made to the police and an all-points bulletin was issued for the vehicle and the suspects.
• Officers of the Southern Division and a team from the POS CID, who were in the area regarding an unrelated matter, responded.
• The Tiida was intercepted along the Golconda overpass at Cross Crossing San Fernando and shots were fired. One suspect was shot and taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Two others jumped off the overpass and ran into the bushes leading to the Cipero River.
• A suspect was detained in a white b14 in the vicinity of Laing, Retrench Village, awaiting the other two to exit the river which runs nearby and around 4a.m., another suspect was held by officers as he exited the bushes in Duncan Village.
• The operations were spearheaded by Snr. Supt Smith of the Southern Division, Snr. Supt. Ramkillawan and Supt. Parryman of the POS CID, along with ASP Jaikaran and Insp. Philip.
• The two detained suspects are from Central.
