•Reports are PC Stefan Samuel, attached to the Cumuto Police Station, was off duty in the Maloney Gardens area when the incident occurred.
•The victims, an 18 year old and her baby were being stabbed by the woman’s boyfriend.
• Samuel intervened, tackled the suspect and restrained the man, seizing the knife in the process. However, the suspect escaped.
•The officer helped the bleeding woman and was taken to the Arima General Hospital where she’s was listed as in critical condition. The baby was not severely injured.
•The suspect was later held and was charged with attempted murder.
PC Samuel says he has spoken to the victim’s father and she’s now in stable condition.
