Missing man found hanging days after saying he was going to kill himself over the disappearance of his girlfriend who remains unaccounted for…
• The body of 51-year-old Simeon Roopchand was found on Saturday 24th September, 2022, hanging from a tree near Damien Road, Tabaquite.
• Roopchand, the boyfriend of U.W.I employee Merissa Edwards, disappeared earlier this week after the woman’s relatives confronted him about her disappearance and he gave contradicting information.
• Relatives were able to track Merissa’s phone and saw that she had been at Simeon’s home, a restaurant and a bar and her final location was at a service station.
• Simeon was confronted on why he failed to say where Merissa had been, by her relatives, but he claimed he had forgotten. He then left and later sent a message saying he was going to “kill himself”.
• He said he dropped Merissa off on the highway leading to her home on Sunday night, but she never made it home.
• Days, after he was confronted by relatives, Simeon’s red Nissan Almera motorcar, was found abandoned at the side of the roadway in Tabaquite.
• To date, Merissa, 39 years old, has not been heard of or seen since she left her John Eli Ext. Freeport home in company with Simeon last Sunday.
