Minister of National Security: “That is not my job”

The Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, when asked about the crime plan for Trinidad and Tobago, responded that it is not his job to create one.

• The statement was made during the opening of the Head Office of the Committee for the Repatriation of Nationals from Overseas, at Court Street, San Fernando, on Thursday 13th April, 2023.

• When asked the question, Hinds responded that as a minister of Government, he knows exactly what his role is and that does not include him creating or generating a crime plan.

• He went on to say that it is a matter for the Commissioner of Police and the defence force to deal with these issues.

• He added that he is aware of the crime plan being constructed by the police and his duty is to provide them with the policy directions and the resources they may need to carry out the respective mandate as well as the budgetary allocations.
