Speaking at today’s media briefing, Minister Deyalsingh confirmed that there were eight (8) suspected cases of the monkeypox virus in the country but all have returned negative tests.
• There are approximately 21,064 confirmed cases of monkeypox globally in 78 countries with Europe accounting for 66% of the cases while the United States has 32%. The US States of New York, California and Illinois have all declared State of Emergencies to deal with the outbreak.
• According to Deyalsingh, the country has ordered some 2,000 doses of the vaccines which must be administered in 2-doses.
