Investigations continue into the double murder and double wounding at Freeman Road in St. Augustine on Tuesday 24th January, 2022.

• The deceased are 16-year-old Darshan Ramnauth a student of the St. Augustine Secondary School and another man only identified by his alias Gino who is of East Indian descent.
• The two wounded victims are 50-year-old Ramesh Jogieraj of Orange Grove Road, St. Augustine who was shot in the upper right arm and 30-year-old Homardath Joesph of Freeman Road who was shot five times in the forearm, upper back and neck. He remains in critical condition at Hospital.
• Around 2:45pm on Tuesday 24th January, a heavily tinted grey Toyota Corolla motorcar registration PDJ 5348 entered Warner Street and drove unto Gregorie’s Lane and opened fire on several persons, killing Ramnauth and Gino at the scene.
• Among the officers who visited the scene were ACP Wayne Mystar, Snr. Supt. Ramphal, ASP Douglas, ASP Ramharrack, Sgt. Ramjohn, W/Sgt. Davis and Cpl Rahim.

Police have arrested four (4) suspects, seized several weapons and were engaged in a shootout with the suspects involved in the murders of a 16-year-old schoolboy and another man at Gregorie’s Lane, Warner Street, Freeman Road in St. Augustine on Tuesday 24th January, 2023.

• The suspects were held in Arouca by officers of the Northern Division Task Force who intercepted a vehicle which had six male occupants who were involved in the murder.
• Three of the suspects, believed to have been wounded, managed to escape while three others were detained.
• Police later discovered four firearms, including one AK-47 and three pistols with extended magazines, one bulletproof vest, and one blue strobe light in the vehicle that was intercepted.
• Between 2pm and 7pm, Officers of the NCTF East proceeded to Bertie Road, Five Rivers, Arouca and observed several men attending to firearms and other items.
• The officers engaged the men and subsequently four (4) persons were arrested. They are:

  1. 18-year-old Jabari Gomez of #11 Ballantyne Road, Five Rivers, Arouca, nursing a gunshot wound to the upper leg presently at EWMSC under police guard;
  2. 20-year-old Josiah Gomez, also of #11 Ballantyne Road, Five Rivers, Arouca;
  3. 21-year-old Dillon Pillai of Manimore Road, Arouca; and
  4. 24-year-old Wendell Baptiste of 6th Street, Five Rivers, Arouca
    The items recovered by police are:
    • An AK 47 rifle with three (3) magazines
    • Two (2) Beretta pistols
    • One (1) Taurus pistol
    • Three (3) extended pistol magazines
    • Three (3) rifle magazines
    • Forty-two (42) rounds 7.62 ammunition,
    • Forty-two (42) rounds 5.56 ammunition,
    • Thirty-nine (39) rounds 9mm ammunition,
    • Five (5) bullet proof vests
    • Led strobe lights, police siren, bull horn,
    • Several items of clothing consisting of “Marvin Gay” hat, gloves, black hoodies, jeans, camouflage pants.
