I was at Warner Street, St Augustine where one (1) man was shot dead and another was wounded following a shooting incident at a wake in St Augustine on Wednesday 03rd April, 2023
.
• The deceased is 22-year-old Chris Pooran, who was the cousin of 16-year-old Darsha Ramnauth who was gunned down in the same area, while the injured man was identified as 29-year-old Salaman Ali.
• The victims were at murdered watermelon vendor Dillon Joseph’s wake at Train Line Road, Warner Street in St. Augustine when the shooting happened.
• Around 10:30pm, a car approached and two men, both armed with AR-15 rifles, emerged and opened fire on the victims before re-entering the car and fleeing the scene.
• Both victims sustained gunshot injuries and were taken to the Mt. Hope Hospital where Pooran subsequently died and Ali was treated for a bullet wound to the head.
• Crime Scene Investigators visited the scene and recovered 34 spent 5.55 shell casings.
• Sgt. Ramjohn, Cpl Thompson, PC Maraj, Mohan, Mosan, WPC Cadette and WPC Ramroop were among the officers who visited the crime scene.
The latest killing is reportedly linked to the recent crimes that occurred in Trainline Road, Warner Street, in St Augustine and persons from the area.
Just on Wednesday 26th April, 2023: Dillon Joseph, whose wake Chris Pooran attended when he was gunned down last night, was also shot and killed while at his watermelon stall near the Caroni Roundabout.
On Wednesday 05th April, 2023: 21-year-old Daniel Riley was shot dead as well as one of the suspects during a brazen daylight shooting in Freeman Road, St Augustine.
On Friday 3rd March 2023: 26-year-old Aneesa Ramkissoon was gunned down inside her home, at Old Train Line Road, Freeman Road in St. Augustine.
On Tuesday 24th January, 2023: 16-year-old school boy Darshan Ramnauth and Gino Shah were gunned down at Gregorie’s Lane off Warner Street, Freeman Road, St. Augustine.
