I was at Calendonia Morvant earlier today where a man was gunned down at his home on Monday 1st May, 2023.
• The deceased has been identified as 58-year-old Ian Downes, an amputee of New Street, Second Caledonia, Morvant.
• Downes, was also a contractor and owner of Downe’s Construction and Investments Limited.
• At around 9:45pm, residents of the area heard several loud explosions and contacted the police.
• A team of officers led by W-Sgt Davis responded to the report and discovered Downes, who had one hand lying on the ground in the gallery of his home with a gunshot wound to the head.
• The DMO visited the scene, declared Downes dead and ordered his body be removed to the forensic science centre.
• Crime scene investigators also visited the scene and recovered one (1) spent shell.
