I visited Point Cumana, Carenage where one man was shot dead, while a toddler was hospitalized following a shooting on Sunday 14th May, 2023.
• The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Romario Jawahir of Rodney Street, Point Cumana, Carenage, while the 20-month-old baby was identified as Kalani Ryan.
• Just after 9:00pm, officers of the Carenage police station responded to a report of several loud explosions in the Point Cumana area.
• When they arrived at the scene, they observed a group of people standing around Jawahir’s lifeless body which was covered in multiple gunshot injuries.
• While at the scene, the residents informed the officers that a silver Nissan AD Wagon drove past the victim and opened fire on him before fleeing the scene.
• They also told the officers that the toddler was grazed on the face during the shooting and was taken to the hospital by her parents.
