I spoke to the mother of Leon Mark who succumbed to his injuries at the hospital after he was shot near Hokett Baptist Primary School in Morvant on Thursday 04th May, 2023.
The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Leon Mark of Alexis Street in Morvant. • Around 10:00pm, Mark along with other persons were at the school doing construction work near the guard booth, when two men armed with guns approached and began shooting at him.
Mark ran off and the suspects followed him, however he was able to hide in a nearby precipice until the police arrived.
Pc Ali and PC Kissoon of the North Eastern Division Task Force responded to the report and took Mark to Mt Hope hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
This was also the second person to be gunned down near a primary school for the week thus far. Just on Monday 01st May, 2023: classes at the Munroe Road Hindu Primary School were dismissed early after 41-year-old Ronnie Pierre of Connector Road, Carlsen Field was gunned down outside the premises.
