Attorney General Reginald Armour said that the cabinet took a decision last Thursday to ban the export of scrap metals for up to a period of 6 months with effect from Friday 12th August, 2022.
• Speaking at a press briefing at the ministry of national security on Monday 15th August, Armour said after the subcommittee reviewed the national security implications the theft of metals from state infrastructures had on the country, a decision was taken to implement an urgent short-term action in order to get what he described as a “national security crisis” under control.
