Funeral operators who collect and store bodies on behalf of the state are complaining that they are not being paid monies owed to them for several years.

• The operators said they have sent their relevant invoices to the Judiciary, which deals with their payments but are told that the Judiciary does not have the funding to service their invoices.

• Budget comes and goes and financial resources are provided to the judiciary for “goods and services” but operators are yet to receive their monies.

• Some of them have not been paid since 2017 while the bulk has not received a single cheque since the Covid-19 pandemic despite providing their services to the state, particularly within the height of the pandemic.

• Funeral home operators want to know what the judiciary is doing with the money given to it for goods and services since they have not been paid for several years.
