For a second consecutive day, scores of young angry scrap iron workers along Cedar Hill road in Claxton Bay, staged fiery road protests where they blocked multiple parts along the roadway with not only burning debris but a mound of dirt and boulders.
• This time, police officers were stationed at most of the main corners where the fiery demonstration took place to ensure the roadway was not blocked by the young men who are protesting the government’s recent ban.
• The protesters have made it abundantly clear that they will continue with protests every single day until the government reversed its decision which hampers their abilities to provide for their families as they have done for years. Because of the magnitude of the protests, police had to seek external assistance even from various regional corporations and CEPEP to assist in removing the mounds of debris along the roadway.
