2 men were shot and killed and a third injured during a shooting incident at an apartment at Ackbar Ali West, Malabar, Arima, during the early hours on Monday 20th June, 2022.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Jerome Fernandez and 25-year-old Tureek Raymond. The injured man is 29-year-old Nigel David Gafoor.
The shooting happened inside a room at the apartment building at LP#51 Ackbar Ali West, where Fernandez, the father of a girl, lived with a woman, his mother told us.
Around 3:am several men pretending to be police officers, entered the upper floor of the apartment and fatally shot Fernandez and Raymond who were in separate bedrooms.
Gafoor was shot behind the head and taken to the Arima District Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
According to a sign erected in front of the residence, the Office of the Councillor for Malabar, North, is located in the same building.
Crime Scene Investigators recovered several spent 5.56 and 9mm shells at the scene.
