Imam Shazim Mohammed was forced to shave his beard and was not allowed to engage in religious activities during his 6-year incarceration. Mohammed filed a religious discrimination lawsuit against the state and Justice Robin Mohammed ruled in his favour, ordering the state to pay a compensation of $200,000.
