A brazen daylight shooting at Shoppes of Arima, left one (1) man injured on Saturday 25th March, 2023.
• The victim was identified as 33-year-old Jack Layne of Arima.
• Shortly before midday, Layne was driving his White Kia Sorento SUV along Tumpuna Road in the company of his wife and three children, when a black, heavily tinted Nissan Tiida pulled up nearby.
• Four occupants reportedly emerged from the vehicle and opened fire on the SUV.
• Layne attempted to reverse the vehicle in an attempt to escape the hail of bullets when he crashed into a wall and the gunmen shot him several more times before re-entering the Nissan Tiida and fleeing the scene.
• Layne sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Arima District Hospital for treatment while his wife and children escaped unharmed.
