Commissioner of Police Earla Harewood-Christopher said the police cannot stop a murder from happening even though they have been able to contain other areas of serious crimes.
• Christopher made the statement while speaking at her first major public engagement at the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s Breakfast Meeting held at Signature Hall in Longdenville on Wednesday 15th March 2023.
• According to Christopher, murder within the country remains beyond the TTPS but she maintained that her June deadline to control the homicide figures can only be achieved with “all hands on deck”
• She said the TTPS understands that the public’s perception of crime mainly focuses on the homicide rate and reasonably demands its reduction to give them an additional sense of safety and security.
