On the issue of the TTPS’s Use of Force Policy, the Commissioner was asked about the body worn cameras the police service has in its possession and the recent killing of a suspect captured on cell phone video.
• Commissioner Christopher said they had approximately 1,000 cameras which are used by front-line officers and the services was expected to acquire 400 more within the coming months.
• Lutchmedial made refence to the cell phone video of the police killing of a suspect in Princes Town last week and questioned if the officers involved had on body cameras.
• Commissioner Christopher said the TTPS has approximately 1,000 frontline officers who all supposed to be using body-worn cameras.
