A murder witness was shot dead outside his home in Caroni on Sunday 14th May, 2023.
• The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Avinash Khanai of Rabindranath Trace, Kelly Village, Caroni.
• Shortly after 3pm, a vehicle, occupied by two men reportedly pulled up at Avinash’s home and shot him several times before fleeing the scene.
• Avinash collapsed to the ground and died at the scene of the shooting and a report was subsequently made to the police.
• Crime scene investigators later visited the scene and recovered over 20 5.56 spent shells and 9mm shell casings.
Khanai was the second person to be gunned down near his home in Rabindranath Trace for the year thus far.
On Monday 27th March, 2023: Khanai’s friend, 44-year-old Marvin Marcano was gunned down outside home.
