An attempted armed robbery in Laventille on Monday night was cut short when one of the intended victims revealed herself to be a police officer.
The incident unfolded shortly before 8 p.m. along McAlister Street, near the Eastern Main Road.
According to police, the 45-year-old officer from Arouca, who was off duty at the time, had stopped in the area and was speaking with a male resident when two men approached them.
One suspect allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded that the woman exit her vehicle, while the second man forced the male victim to the ground.
The officer responded by drawing her legally issued weapon, prompting both suspects to flee the scene. While no injuries were reported, the male victim later discovered that a set of keys, including those for his home and vehicles, had been stolen during the encounter.
